What You’re Getting

My Philosophy

Studio Enrollment

Eklund Violin Studio is not your typical music school. Behind all of this is a person who truly cares about you not only as a student, but as an individual with a life, family, and all the random things that come up.

My philosophy is that mastering the violin is a partnership between teacher and pupil. Fostering this kind of a relationship takes a diligent, hard working student who is willing to learn, and a present, attentive, skilled instructor, together in a one-on-one setting. When we both do our part, mastery becomes possible!

One thing that makes Eklund Violin Studio like any other extracurricular activity is that it’s a semester-long commitment. That equates to 16 weeks for fall and spring semesters, and 12 weeks for summer semester.

Wait, don’t panic! When you initially enroll, you are not instantly locked in. Your first session with me serves as a meet-and-greet to make sure we are a good fit for each other. If you decide that you do not want to continue lessons after the meet and greet, your remaining lessons will be taken off of the semester calendar and you will not be charged for those lessons.

If you decide to continue lessons after the meet and greet, your spot is locked in. You will be automatically re-enrolled with me for each following semester, which guarantees that your spot is never stolen by someone else between enrollment periods!

Don’t want to re-enroll? No problem! You are welcome to cancel your enrollment at any time between semesters.

Individualized Instruction

My studio is founded on the values of flexible, adaptable, individualized instruction and learning plans. I recognize that each student that walks through my doors is unique, and I honor the fact that they all learn at different paces, have different learning styles, and have different learning goals.

Curriculum

The Suzuki Violin Method is backbone of my curriculum, building a solid foundation on various composer styles, versatile technique, and musicality through book 8.  We then expand your repertoire into a sphere of more prominent violin pieces as you finish books 9 and 10.

Focused work in scales, technique and musical theory will make up 50% of your curriculum. This intentional study of the seven keys, and techniques including vibrato, shifting, and bowing are what will set you apart as an advanced violinist.

Semester Recital (Final)

Part of each student’s curriculum will be to prepare and perform one solo recital piece per semester (or more if desired!)

In addition, students are encouraged to choose a duet that they can perform with me. Duets are a skill all on their own and can only be mastered with experience!

“Anyone who is able to be under her instruction will flourish, as she pours her heart and soul into her students.”
